Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) sector

One in eight people in the world are estimated to be suffering from Chronic hunger. Africa remains the region with the highest prevalence of undernourishment, with more than one in five people hungry. By2050, global demand for food is expected to have increased by 70%.

High and volatile food and commodity prices over recent years have exacerbated the food and nutrition insecurity of poor households

The objective of this sector is to reduce acute food insecurity and save lives of the most vulnerable affected population either by natural or man-made disasters,

restore and improve food and livelihoods of vulnerable households in affected areas/states and  strengthen sector coordination and information management for effective and timely humanitarian response.
